Alfred S. Posamentier (d. 18 Ekim 1942), Amerikalı bir eğitimci ve Amerikan matematik ve bilim eğitiminin önde gelen yorumcularından biri olup düzenli olarak The New York Times ve diğer haber yayınlarına katkıda bulunmaktadır. Orijinal matematik ve fen müfredatı oluşturmuş, matematik ve fen eğitimine daha fazla fon ayrılması gerektiğini vurgulamış, matematik ve fen eğitimcilerinin seçilmesi için kriterler yayınlamış, K-12 matematik ve bilim eğitimine ebeveynlerin dahil edilmesinin önemini savunmuş ve matematikte eleştirel düşünmeyi öğretmek için sayısız müfredat çözümü sunmuştur.

Dr. Posamentier, New York Eyaleti Eğitim Komiserliği'nin Matematik-A Regents Sınavları Mavi Kurdele Paneli'nin bir üyesiydi. New York Eyaleti için Standartları yeniden tanımlayan Komiserin Matematik Standartları Komitesinde görev yapmıştır. Ve New York Şehir Okulları Şansölyesi'nin Matematik Danışma Paneli'nde görev yaptı.

Posamentier, Fordham Üniversitesi'nden matematik eğitimi alanında doktora (1973), City College of the City University of New York'tan matematik eğitimi alanında yüksek lisans (1966) ve Hunter College of the City University of New York'tan matematik alanında A.B. (Artium Baccalaureus) lisans derecesi almıştır.

Hayatı

Posamentier, Avusturyalı bir göçmenin oğlu olarak New York Manhattan'da doğmuştur. Bir kızı (Lisa Joan Perlman, d. 1970) ve bir oğlu (David Richard Posamentier, d. 1978) vardır. River Vale, New Jersey'de ikamet etmektedir. Matematik eğitimi emeritus profesörü ve 40 yılı aşkın bir süre görev yaptığı The City College of the City University of New York'ta Eğitim Fakültesi'nin eski dekanıdır. Sonraki beş yıl boyunca New York Mercy Üniversitesi'nde Eğitim Fakültesi Dekanı ve matematik eğitimi profesörü olarak görev yapmıştır. Dr. Posamentier daha sonra New York Long Island Üniversitesi'nde Uluslararasılaştırma ve Finanse Edilen Programlar İcra Direktörlüğü görevini üstlenmek üzere davet edildi. LIU'da geçirdiği üç yılın ardından The New York City College of Technology/City University of New York'ta Seçkin Öğretim Görevlisi olarak şu anki görevini üstlendi. Kariyerine altı yıl boyunca Theodore Roosevelt Lisesi'nde (Bronx, New York) matematik öğretmeni olarak başlamıştır.

Ödülleri ve başarıları

Posamentier, 1989 yılında Londra South Bank Üniversitesi (Londra, İngiltere) Onursal Üyesi olmuştur. Üstün öğretmenliği nedeniyle City College Mezunlar Derneği tarafından 1994 yılında Yılın Eğitimcisi seçildi ve 2009 yılında New York'ta 1 Mayıs 1994 günü New York Şehir Konseyi Başkanı tarafından onun onuruna verildi. 1994 yılında Avusturya Cumhuriyeti Büyük Onur Madalyası ile ödüllendirilmiş ve 1999 yılında Parlamento'nun onayı ile Avusturya Cumhuriyeti Cumhurbaşkanı tarafından Avusturya Üniversite Profesörü unvanı verilmiştir. 2003 yılında Viyana Teknoloji Üniversitesi Ehrenbürger bursu ile ödüllendirildi ve 2004 yılında Avusturya Cumhuriyeti Cumhurbaşkanı tarafından 1. sınıf Avusturya Bilim ve Sanat Onur Haçı ile ödüllendirildi. 2005 yılında Hunter College Mezunlar Şeref Salonu'na kabul edildi ve 2006 yılında City College Mezunlar Derneği tarafından prestijli Townsend Harris Madalyası ile ödüllendirildi. 2009 yılında New York Eyaleti Matematik Eğitimcileri Onur Listesi'ne alınmış ve aynı yıl Almanya'nın Berlin kentinde Christian Peter Beuth Ödülü'ne layık görülmüştür. 2017 yılında Mexico City'deki Fundacion Sebastian, A. C. tarafından Summa Cum Laude nemine discrepante ile ödüllendirilmiştir.
