Richard Lenski

Richard E. Lenski (d. 1956), Michigan Eyalet Üniversitesi'nde mikrobiyal ekoloji alanında John A. Hannah Seçkin Profesörü olan Amerikalı evrimsel biyologdur.^[1] Birleşik Devletler Ulusal Bilimler Akademisi üyesidir. Lenski, 37 yıldır süren E. coli uzun vadeli evrim deneyi ile tanınır. Bu deney, mutasyon oranları,^[2] klonal girişim,^[3] antibiyotik direnci,^[4] yeni özelliklerin evrimi^[5] ve türleşme^[6] dahil olmak üzere evrimin temel süreçlerini anlamada etkili olmuştur. Ayrıca, Avida adlı kendini kopyalayan organizmaları kullanarak evrimi dijital olarak inceleme konusundaki öncü çalışmalarıyla da tanınır.
