Wayne R. Dynes (23 Ağustos 1934 - 23 Temmuz 2021) Amerikalı sanat tarihçisi ve ansiklopedistti.

Dynes, çocukluk ve gençlik yıllarını Güney Kaliforniya'da geçirdi. Kaliforniya Üniversitesi'nde başladığı lisans eğitimini 1969'da tamamladı. İtalya ve İngiltere'de uzun süre yaşadıktan sonra Manhattan'a yerleşti. Doktorasını New York Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Enstitüsü'nde tamamladı. Tezinin konusu, Belçika'da bulunan ve 11. yüzyıla tarihlenen Stavelot İncili'ydi. Orta Çağ alanında uzmanlaşan Dynes, Columbia Üniversitesi ve Hunter College'da ders verdi.

1960'lı yıllarda Mattachine Society üyeliği vardı.
