Charophyta

Charophyta; charophytes olarak da adlandırılan bir tatlı su yeşil alg grubudur. Bazen bir bölüm olarak ele alınır^[1] ancak aynı zamanda bir süper bölüm^[2] veya sıralanmamış bir klad olarak da gösterilmektedir. Karasal bitkiler Charophyta'dan, muhtemelen karasal tek hücreli charophyte'lerden^[3] kardeş grup olarak Zygnematophyceae sınıfıyla birlikte ortaya çıktı.^[4]^[5]^[6]^[7]

Artık kladistik olarak yerleştirilmiş Embryophyta ve Streptophyta ile eşanlamlıdır.^[8]^[9]^[10]^[11] Charophytes'in kardeş grubu Chlorophyta'dır.
