Roman piskoposluğu
Roman piskoposluğu, genellikle MS 284 ile 641 yılları arasında tarihlenen Geç Roma İmparatorluğu'nda, Roman veya sivil piskoposluk olarak bilinen bölgesel yönetim bölgesi, her biri bir vicarius tarafından yönetilen bir grup eyaletten oluşuyordu; vicarlar, ikamet ettikleri piskoposlukları doğrudan yöneten Praefectus praetorio'larının temsilcileriydi. Başlangıçta on iki piskoposluk vardı ve 4. yüzyılın sonunda on dört piskoposluğa çıktı.
Piskoposluk terimi, 'yönetim', 'idare', 'idare bölgesi' veya 'vilayet grubu' anlamına gelen Grekçe dioíkēsis (διοίκησις) kelimesinden türeyen Latince dioecēsis kelimesinden gelir.
