Frances "Fran" Walsh, (d. 10 Ocak 1959, Wellington, Yeni Zelanda), Yeni Zelandalı senaryo yazarı ve film yapımcısı.

Wellington'da Victoria University'de İngiliz edebiyatı alanında lisans eğitimi aldı. Mezun olduktan kısa bir süre sonra senaryo yazarlığına başladı. 1987 yılından beri Yeni Zelandalı yönetmen Peter Jackson ile birlikte ve çiftin iki çocukları var.

Walsh, Jackson'ın filmlerinin senaryolarının çoğunda çalıştı. Bu filmlerin bazılarında yapımcı olarak da yer aldı.

Meslek hayatı

Walsh, Peter Jackson ve Philippa Boyens ile birlikte Yüzüklerin Efendisi film üçlemesinin senaryosunu yazdı, ortak yapımcılığını üstlendi ve bazı sahneleri yönetti. Ayrıca filmin Gollum's Song ve Into the West gibi bazı şarkılarını da birlikte yazdı. Walsh'un bilgisayarda düzenlediği çığlıklar Nazgûller'in çığlıkları olarak kullanıldı.

2004 yılında Yüzüklerin Efendisi: Kralın Dönüşü filmi ile en iyi senaryo uyarlaması, en iyi film ve en iyi özgün şarkı dallalarında 3 oscar kazandı.

Ne var kî, Walsch üçlemenin DVD ilavelerinde röportaj, resim ve video kliplerde gözükmek istemedi. Sadece sesli yorumlara katkıda bulundu.

King Kong'un çekimleri Yeni Zelanda'da gerçekleştirilen Peter Jackson versiyonunun senaryosunu yazdıktan sonra Alice Sebold'un In My Heaven başlıklı romanını sinemaya uyarladı. Film 2009 yılında The Lovely Bones başlığıyla gösterime girdi.

Walsh, Peter Jackson ve Philippa Boyens ile birlikte J. R. R. Tolkien'in Hobbit romanının senaryo uyarlamasını da yazdı.^[1]
